How To Be A Student in the 21st Century

This video has good intentions but fails to really define what a 21st century student actually is. It tries to use humor but most of the jokes are not funny. It does make a couple of good points as far as the importance of networking, but over-all doesn't do a good job talking about what it means to be a 21st century student.

Why is it important to acknowledge the online community of our students?

Considering how much time students spend on online communities such as facebook, myspace, and youtube, it is important to acknowledge this behavior and look at why so much time is spent. I think that all human beings want to feel a part of something or find somewhere to belong. Humanity was not meant to live in isolation. Students are now able to use online communities as a form of entertainment, and self expression. They are able to use the creative side of their brain and able to find a place they belong. I don't think that technology will ever be able to replace the satisfaction of face-to-face communication, but it still needs to be acknowledged as a form of self expression.
